ListenBeautiful (Intro) - Marcus Green

Like the greats, Marvin, Donnie, Michael and Stevie, Marcus Green processes that God given ability to entice and astound music lovers with his undeniable musical gifts.  His subtle yet dynamic voice is reminiscent of days past yet; it is fresh and relevant. From R&B to Soul, Hip-Hop to Dance, Marcus’s sound rings of a genuine sincerity that is rooted in gospel and soulful expression, the key ingredients missing in today’s music culture. “Great music is about doing what you feel not what you think people will like. If you’re sincere about what you do, people will like it” he so candidly states. But, there is more to this young man with the voice and soul of legends; he is also a songwriter, a producer and dancer.

He is the consummate “entertainer”.

Born November 19, in Elizabeth New Jersey, Marcus’s first exposures to music like many in Northern New Jersey came by way of the church. Although soul music was the preferred genre played in the Green household, Marcus himself admits that it all started in the church choir.  The choir was the place where a shy 8 year old boy could open up and express himself in a way that only God could have inspired. There he perfected his tone and found his voice of which both came relatively easily. By age 16 Marcus became interested in music production. He purchased a computer, a synthesizer keyboard and music recording and sequencing software and began composing his own music. Unlike singing and dancing, the production side of music did not come as easy; he had to really work hard at it but, he was up for the challenge. Though his tireless pursuit of musical perfection, he caught the attention of Malcolm Evans, a local producer who took Marcus under his wing, showing the overly enthusiastic teen how the record and arrange what was in his mind, his heart and his soul.  Although Malcolm’s teachings gave him a much needed push in the right direction, Marcus knew that he wanted to take his music to an even deeper focus. This prompted him to enroll into The Institute of Audio Research in New York City. “I wanted to have more control over every aspect of what I have in me and what I create” he explains.

With a more polished sound and his feet still firmly planted in gospel music, Marcus would go on to lend his talents to anyone who would listen.  He gained even more invaluable experience and some exposure by working with gospel greats like Will Brown and Another Level and performed with the group at venues such as the McDonald’s Gospel Fest 2007.  “Being on that stage in front of thousands of people, I knew then that this is what I wanted to do, what I wanted to be”, he professes.

A “Star” is born.

Nowadays, Marcus has set his sights on the R&B and Soul music genres. He has surrounded himself with a cast of new comers and industry veterans, a combination fitting of the type of artist he wants to be and the kind of person that he is.

“Marcus Green is the without question the one to resurrect soul music, returning it to its glory days and carry it into an even brighter future.” - Darren “Chum” Lewis
