"Ant Grant is more than just a rapper; he is the type of artist that inspires others to want to better themselves. With a humbleness that is steeped in reality and confidence, Ant truly believes that he is simply the courier of ideas far greater than he. Long gone are the days of useless rhetoric. Ant Grant is the messenger of hope for Hip-Hop." – Darren "Chum" Lewis

Ant Grant was born October 18th in Calgary, Alberta, Canada and later raised in Toronto, Ontario by his mother. As a single parent, Ant's mother introduced him and his older brother Mike (Rest in Peace) to a multitude of music growing up. From 60's and 70's Motown to Funk and later R&B of the 80's, Ant Grant's musical influences are vast and deeply seeded in versatility. In the late 80's, Ant was introduced to Hip Hop music by his older brother Mike, a former DJ turned producer who was known in Toronto as "the beat wizard" with a style reminiscent of DJ Premier. Once bitten, Hip Hop would have an unwavering hold on Ant and from then on this emerging art form played a major role in his life. At age 11, Ant penned his first song that his brother Mike produced on a 60 second 8 bit sampler. Though the duo was rough around the edges, very rough, even in these early days they knew they had something special. It was the late 80s/early 90s when the "technology" in keyboard samplers & beat machines caught up with the skill level of artists such as Diamond D, LL Cool J, Gang Starr, and Tim Dog all of which influenced the young Emcee and his producer brother.

By the age of 12, Ant formed a rap group with his brother Mike called "AM – FM". Ant went by the name of "Eminem" (believe it or not) and Mike "DJ Dikdasterly". At 16, Ant relocated to Brooklyn NYC and attended prep school to pursue his other love, basketball. He excelled in the sport and was even nominated as a McDonald's All American. However, promising as it seemed, Ant's future on the court with his many accolades, championships and two scholarships was not to be. God had plans for Ant and the NBA was not it. As fate would have it, an injury snatched him off the courts and dropped him back onto the music scene. In the years that followed, Ant perfected his skills as an emcee performing at local talent shows and spending countless hours in the studio. He knew early on that to be a true Hip-Hop artist he had to differentiate himself from the norm. He knew that the essence of emceeing lies in the emcee's originality and that's what he sought out to do, be "different" and "original". This was the beginning of "Ant Grant'' the artist, the entertainer, the emcee. With a lot on his mind, Ant's aim is to take listeners on a journey of daily struggle, love, consciousness and ohhhh yes "good times". He has been around and seen a lot and that is reflected in his music.

"You can't listen to my catalog of music and honestly say that there isn't one song that you don't relate to on some personal level. I have something for everyone. ", Ant frankly speaks.

As of late, Ant has been in studios working with seasoned producers like Darren "Chum" Lewis, a producer of 20 years who has also been one of Ant's mentors. Chum and Ant have co-founded Enterprize Entertainment Group and Code of Arms Productions. In addition to Chum, Ant is also working with super-producer MaZzi, out of Bound Brook, NJ. The two have collaborated on many songs with more in the wake. Through his tireless work, Ant's music has been featured on both the 2009 and 2010 AdColor Awards Compilation Projects with the likes of MC Lyte and R&B singers Jazmine Sullivan, Heather Headley and Avant. He was also awarded Songwriter of the Month by the music publishing company Akande Inc. Though steadily, Ant Grant's star is definitely rising.
